Is it time you started planning for your retirement?

As a business owner, we know that you put every ounce of effort into making your business successful on a day-to-day level. It takes huge amounts of work and dedication to make a success of any commercial enterprise, so it can be hard to find time to plan for tomorrow, let alone for years or even decades into the future. There will however come a point when it’s time to sell up, hand over the reins or simply slow down and enjoy some well-earned rest.

That is why it is time, right now, to start planning for your future – the time when your business is no longer eating up every hour of the day. Just how do you go about planning for your retirement?

That’s the subject of our latest video, where we discuss how important it is to paint a clear picture of what the future holds. We recommend that you sit down with a financial planner, or give us a call to speak to one of our advisers, to work out what it is that you want – and design a clear road map to get there.

We have enough experience of working with business owners to know that rarely do they relinquish control completely. After a lifetime of effort, very few can just move on and forget about the business they have grown. However, there will come a day when you will feel the need to wind down and take a step back. And when those thoughts of ‘winding down’ start to creep in, we want you to be able to have the choice to do so.

The longer you have to implement a financial plan, historically speaking, the outcome tends to be a better one. You may never have as much time to get a plan in place as you do right now, so it’s a good a time to begin your journey. That is why it’s worth speaking to a professional in your local area and start laying the foundations for your well planned, retirement structure.

The one thing we all have in common, is that come retirement we want to have the choice of what we do and when. That choice comes from an element of financial freedom, meaning you no longer need worry about the effect of your choices when it comes to your household income. Having a clear objective for retirement (that can often change with time) is the first step to developing a strategy that creates a clear path to your desired goal.

What we are trying to achieve with this message is simply, start planning for your retirement now. Speak to a local Financial Adviser, Wealth Manager or call us if you have any questions. You’ll quickly find that sitting down with a professional and developing a retirement plan is both enjoyable and uplifting.

Once it’s done, you can get back to doing what you do best – running your business. Get in touch with a member of the Abbeygate team today to discuss your options and start to enjoy your retirement planning.
